About the Care For Kids Foundation

Beginning in 1995, the Care for Kids Foundation modernized the Marion County Children's Guardian Home, an emergency shelter care facility for abused, neglected, and abandoned children. This facility was the first stop out of harms way for endangered children caught up in very traumatic family situations. We completed this $11.8 million project in 2001. Additionally, we established a memorial for 699 children buried in unmarked graves at Crown Hill Cemetery. The three stone black granite monoliths have the names of all 699 children etched into the front and back of the monuments. If we didn't have a name we still gave them recognition. We also financed week-long residential creative camping experiences for thousands of foster children which provided a safe, fun and artistic environment for kids to explore the outdoors, learn life and coping skills, gain a creative voice and explore their inner self.
